Rani Mukerji’s new film Mardaani 2 registered a slow start at the box office on the first day of its release on December 13. Directed by Gopi Puthran, Rani stars as the fierce police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in the film.
On the first day of its release, Mardaani 2 collected Rs 3.8 crore as it released in 1600 screens. The collections are expected to increase considering the fact that reviews of the film from the audience as well critics have been quite good.
Prior to Mardaani 2, Rani appeared in Hichki in March 2018. Cast as an aspiring teacher with Tourette syndrome, Rani’s role of Naina Mathur was applauded by critics as well as fans. Although Hichki registered limited earnings on the first day of its release as well with Rs 3.30 crore, it witnessed a massive boost in its collections second day onwards.
The Siddharth Malhotra-directed film witnessed a 62.12 per cent growth in its collection on the second day of its release and earned Rs 5.35 crore. By the end of the second day, Hichki had already garnered a total of Rs 8.65 crore.
Mardaani 2, hence, might also see a growth in its box office collections today as the positive word of mouth will most certainly boost the earnings of the film.
Mardaani 2 narrates Shivani Shivaji Roy’s expedition of capturing a brutal serial rapist who systematically targets women.
